Juanita is originally from Puerto Rico. After completing high school, Juanita began studying Accounting at the University of Puerto Rico. In 1980, she left Puerto Rico and relocated to Houston, Texas. After many years in banking, Juanita returned back to Puerto Rico. Upon her return, she was approached by a family friend to model and do pageants. She became a model for the prestigious Fontecha agency in San Juan. She also entered the “Cara Bonita” (translation: Beautiful Face) pageant placing top 6 out of 113 girls from all over the island.
In 1993, once more Juanita left her beloved island and moved to Alice, Texas with her family and her husband. In 2000, she attended the Protocol School of Washington under the direction of Dorothea Johnson and became a certified Etiquette Consultant for children and adults. After lending her time and efforts to training girls locally for pageants, she decided to become a recruiter for the Miss Texas USA pageant and was the local Director for the Miss Corpus Christi USA pageant for seven years. She chose to expand her endeavor and opened a John Casablancas Modeling Center franchise in Corpus Christi, Texas in 2003. The following years she would spend getting involved in various charities that allowed her to empower women and make them feel important.
In 2015, she and Jose left Texas and relocated to Sarasota, Florida where Juanita enrolled in the John Maxwell Leadership/Life Coach program to once more expand on her efforts and pair them with her experience in the image business and help people feel and look their best. In 2016, Juanita was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, and would beat it with her last treatment taking place on May 8, 2017. Unfortunately, on a business trip to Puerto Rico, a month later Juanita would pass from side effects from her treatment and surgeries. Juanita is survived by her loving husband Jose, daughter Cristina, and son Juan. Juanita’s motto was, “Never give up,” and that she never did. Juanita was going to represent the leadership and etiquette division for Trademarc and we honor her today by remembering all her experience and hard work, but more importantly her passion to help others and give of herself without any expectation in return!
Juan Carlos Ortiz
President and Lead Talent Coach
Juan Carlos Ortiz is originally from Puerto Rico, but has been calling Texas home since 1993. Juan has over 15 years of experience in the pageant, modeling, and talent industries. He has worked with clients to help them achieve success in a variety of industries, including pageants, model/talent industry, professionals in the media, entrepreneurs, and clients seeking personal development. Juan’s philosophy and personalized approach sets him apart from others in the industry:
“As a coach, my purpose is to first establish rapport. Once my clients feel the connection, I break old habits and train of thought, and begin to rebuild with recognition of the individual’s strength and ability. I then continue on to focus on the person as a whole, from the inside out. This is when clients learn how to connect with themselves and that is when growth happens.”
After high school, Juan gained admission into the University of Texas at Austin to study Psychology. He also began acting classes and taking an interest in the image and personal development aspect of the talent business. In 2003, he became the Agency Director for John Casablanca’s Modeling Center in Corpus Christi. Shortly after, in 2004, he opened his own boutique-modeling agency, The Juan Ortiz Agency, and placed models in Dallas, Miami, New York, and Tokyo. His models were featured in America’s Next Top Model, Elle, Contigo Men’s Apparel, and Nuestra Belleza Latina to name a few. During this time, Juan worked with his talent and models on more than just the talent and image portions, he began incorporating wellness to his work and began consulting with clients on how to organize and better their lives in a way that made sense to them and led them to feel fulfilled.
After a six-year hiatus, Juan returned to finish his education and received his Bachelors in Psychology from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas in 2012. With a growing desire to do more and help others achieve the best version of themselves, he returned to school and obtained his Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2016. His desire to pair his education with his experience with image and personal development led to the inception of Trademarc. In life, everyone has strengths or talents that set them apart from the crowd, their ‘Trademarc,’ and Juan believes that through the finding and development of that Trademarc, people can achieve the best version of themselves.
